Seeing as LiveCode came from a time period before dark mode, not all of the interface responds to the change, so until we have a chance to improve dark mode support, I’d recommend light (eye bleeding) mode. Of course I’m not your mother, so make up your own mind 
You are aware that the OXT community spend countless hours to get this issue settled (if it is settled, I have no idea)? Maybe we can borrow some gray spray from over there.
Yeah, I think they have light/dark mode switching happening for all three platforms. Not too certain what we can borrow as they don’t have source available on GitHub, it’s somewhere on mega.nz
It might be in the .zip files in the current version of OXT Lite on mega.nz
I am on a very thin line at the moment, it does not make sense to start a download. But one could simply check there, and then the question is if a big diff helps.
